This project included construction of a new replacement senior center for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The project was constructed on a particularly difficult site that required extensive soil remediation for the building foundations and site parking lots. The project included a cast-in-place foundation system with a structural steel frame. The roof system consisted of both a flat roof and a standing seam metal room. The building façade consisted of a natural stone veneer, metal wall panels, phenolic wall panels and stucco. Aluminum-framed storefront systems, curtain walls and sun control devices were also included in the exterior façade design. The interior of the building included metal stud framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings and flooring. A hallmark design feature of the interior façade was the main stair that included and architectural handrail system and a composite wood paneling system to create a sculptured wall surface. The HVAC system included a geothermal system. The project also included a new fiber optic service and connection that required extensive excavation and borings under public right-of-ways.
