The Project

This project involved the construction of a new bus shelter on Leestown Road. It was part of the Art in Motion smART Shelter Project financed by the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program and administered through the KY Office of Local Programs. The ChimneyStop design team was made up of Ryan Hargrove, an associate professor in UK’s Department of Landscape Architecture, and his students, Martin Steffen, Justin Menke and Chad Riddle. The bus shelter featured concrete foundations and slab, a stone masonry chimney and seating structure, exposed wooden columns, dry laid stone veneer, craftsman-style stained glass and a decorative bike rack.
