This project, which will more than double the library’s size, involves the renovation of the existing building, demolition of an annex building and construction of a 39,600 square foot addition. Work includes installation of a temporary HVAC system during construction and a switchover from the existing geothermal system, utility relocation, plumbing, electrical and mechanical work and construction of new driveways and parking areas. The renovated space will increase the size of the children and teen programming areas, provide an expanded area for public computer use and incorporate a local history and genealogy room that will feature local authors and the legacy of Madison County. The library’s expansion will be a three-story addition to the existing building and will provide larger meeting rooms, programming spaces and small group meeting and study rooms. It also will also add an enclosed garage bay for the bookmobile and a covered entrance to improve accessibility for patrons.
