The Project

Old Frankfort Pike is undoubtedly one of Central Kentucky’s most pristine and scenic byways. It is cherished by its residents and the community as a whole, and as such, the entire city of Lexington feels a sense of ownership and pride for the lasting image that it creates for daily commuters and out-of-town visitors. Marrillia Design and Construction, with its proven track record of executing streetscape projects, was selected by the LFUCG to construct a new stone wall at the start of this nationally designated scenic America’s Byways®. The new dry stone fence was designed and constructed to mimic an existing dry stone fence found on the property opposite of Old Frankfort Pike. On time and without a single change order, Marrillia completed the construction of approximately 708 linear feet of dry stone fence, construction staking, demolition of existing retaining walls, earthwork, sediment and erosion control measures, and site restoration during a historically wet spring in 2013.
