This project included the renovation of approximately 40,480 sf of existing space within the Mary G. Hogsett Primary School in Danville plus additions totaling 9,200 sf. Atypical from most of Marrillia’s school projects, the building was not occupied during construction, and as a result, the project was completed in only 12 months. Extensive site improvements and site amenities were added as part of this project. New playground areas were constructed and an outdoor amphitheater was created. The building additions were constructed using a convention load bearing masonry wall and structural steel roof system. The roof system of the existing gymnasium, which is a pre-engineered steel building with a standing seam metal roof, was also removed and replaced during construction.
