The Project

The University of Kentucky originally bid this project for the AGR Fraternity as a traditional plan-spec job, however, when the original bids came in over budget, UK turned to a design-build approach to execute the work. Marrillia collaborated with the University to reduce project costs by $2.4 million with no major changes to the original floor plan. Work included all final design and construction services for the 21,500 square foot fraternity house located in the University of Kentucky Greek Park at the corner of Rose Lane and Woodland Ave. The house included seven 2-bedroom units and two 4-bedroom ADA units, for a total of 42 beds. Other notable aspects of the scope of work included the construction of living and study areas as well as an in-house commercial kitchen, a laundry area and a dining area to serve residents of the house.
