Marrillia Design and Construction, in collaboration with project partners, delivered the new JCTC Center for Science and Discovery, a state-of-the-art 40,000-square-foot, three-story facility located in the heart of downtown Louisville as part of the $90 million Jefferson Rising initiative. Designed to serve Jefferson Community and Technical College students, the $20.4 million project consolidates all science programs into one modern hub featuring eight advanced laboratories, multiple classrooms, and more than 20 faculty offices to support STEM education and student success.
Innovation and sustainability played a major role throughout construction. Drone technology and artificial intelligence were utilized for reference, quality control, and compliance throughout the project. The facility achieved LEED Certification through energy-efficient systems, environmentally responsible building practices, and a comprehensive recycling program that minimized environmental impact. The project was also recognized with a 2026 AGC Build Kentucky Award.
As the first major component of the Jefferson Rising initiative, the JCTC Center for Science and Discovery serves as a transformational investment in Louisville’s future by expanding educational opportunities, strengthening workforce development, and contributing to the continued revitalization of downtown Louisville.
